A lot of baseless opinions about actor Aamir Khan’s first few promos of Satyamev Jayate’s Season 2 has been doing the rounds. Amongst the few heard ones, Aamir’s righteousness is a ‘sham’, is the most common and often heard of the lot. Though in an interview to Koimoi earlier, Aamir had clearly said that he is aware of such opinions but in his heart he knows the earnestness he feels for the issues.

Aamir’s crusader vein dates back to the choice he has made in films by doing an abandoned Lagaan or a Sarfarosh too. The actor has often faced the brunt for it as well. His scathing remarks on Godhra Riots and support for the rehabilitation of villagers uprooted due to the construction of Sardar Sarovar Dam was not taken kindly by the national party BJP or the government of Madhya Pradesh and mostly Gujarat.

Post the release of Rang De Basanti in 2006, Aamir and his gang from the film extended their support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan helmed by Medha Patkar and Arundhati Roy and Aamir especially landed up in massive trouble for it as his next film got banned in Gujarat – the aggrieved state.

Koimoi brings to you an interview from 2006 where Aamir sticks to his stand on supporting the Narmada Bachao Andolan seeking proper and elaborate rehabilitation for the victims.
