A modern day reading of Tagore’s heart wrenching classic, Kabuliwala, Bioscopewala extrapolates the characters and their conflicts, exploring alternative endings and experiences. The makers have finally unveiled its trailer and it’s intriguing from the word go.

The movie revolved around the story of Minnie Basu, a young Indian documentary film maker returns from France on hearing about her estranged father’s mysterious death in a plane crash while traveling to Afghanistan.

Her energies are concentrated towards wrapping up her life in India and returning to Paris when an old Alzheimer’s ridden man is released by the police into her custody. After initially resenting him she comes to realise that he is in fact the Bioscopewala from her childhood, her constant companion, the man who introduced her to cinema – who taught her to tell stories. Thus begins her journey into piecing together the puzzle of his life as she retraces his steps from his arrival into India and eventually back to Afghanistan- where used to run a cinema hall before the establishment of the Taliban regime. As a child, he had taught her to tell stories – now will she complete his?

Bioscopewala stars Danny Denzongpa, Geetanjali Thapa, Tisca Chopra and Adil Hussain. Presented by Fox Star Studios in association with Star India, Produced Sunil Doshi and directed by Deb Medhekar. Bioscopewla releases 25th May.
