Not just Jethalal or Champaklal, but even other supporting characters have made our daily life entertaining. Amongst such quirky characters is Bagha, which is brilliantly portrayed by Tanmay Vekaria.
For the unversed, Tanmay had been part of the show since its inception, but in different and small roles. It was in 2010 when he played Bagha as a temporary replacement for Ghanshyam Nayak’s Natu Kaka. Ever since his character became permanent due to a great response from viewers.
It’s almost a decade, Tanmay Vekaria has been playing Bagha effortlessly in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. With so much popularity of the character, Tanmay has become a household name as Bagha. During his interview with Mayapuri Cut, he expressed how it feels to be known by the character’s name.

During his chat, Tanmay Vekaria was asked how it feels when people call him by his character name from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He said, “Bagha’s (character name) literal translation in Gujarati means dumb, but it’s okay and feels good if people know him with his character.” He also added that it’s just a character and everything gets back to normal once the shoot is done.
Meanwhile, those who aren’t following the show from the start, wouldn’t be aware of the fact that Tanmay has played as many as four different characters apart from Bagha. Surprised, aren’t you?
Well, let us reveal it for you in detail. While Bagha is a full-time character in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Tanmay has made five special appearances too. He has played a teacher in Tapu’s school strike storyline and Rickshaw puller in Dr Hathi’s entry storyline. He was also seen as maid Rukmini’s husband. Also, he has played a taxi driver in Sunderlal’s entry storyline. He was also seen as a police inspector who arrests Jethalal in a child labour case.
