There are some series we wish would return ASAP with a new season. BBC’s Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman is one of the best examples for it. In the show, Benedict plays the titular role whereas Freeman plays his partner in solving the crime, Dr John Watson.

The fourth season of this popular crime and detective series aired in 2017. It received a mixed response, but fans desperately want 5th season. Everyone is waiting for Benedict Cumberbatch to don the hat of Sherlock Holmes (literally) and get into action with Dr Watson again. The makers have not confirmed if there is going to be a new season or not. But the rumours have been going on for a while now.

As reported by Devdiscourse, the makers might bring back The Walking Dead actress Eleanor Matsuura’s character, Detective Inspector Stella Hopkins. We saw Eleanor as Stella in a small but intriguing role in Sherlock season 4’s first episode, ‘The Six Thatchers. She visits Baker Street to talk to him and Dr Watson. The report mentions that there will be more to her character if there’s season 5.

Meanwhile, last year, when Martin Freeman was asked about the possibility of season 5, he gave an honest answer. The Fargo actor said that there have been discussions. But Benedict Cumberbatch and the writers along with him have many other projects in their hands. So, they don’t want to make a new season for the sake and risk the show’s legacy.
