Mohena Kumari On Getting Trolled For Covering Her Face With Ghunghat: “Even Christians & Muslims Have A Veil When They Marry”

Mohena Kumari got married to Suyesh Rawat in a dreamy traditional wedding back in October. The television actress wore a pretty lehenga on her wedding day and was the talk of the town for all the gorgeous pictures. Now as the actress ringed in the new year with her new family, the actress posted a throwback picture from her marriage to wish her fans a happy new year.

In the picture, we can see Mohena Kumari in her bridal avatar as she is surrounded by her family and hubby Suyesh Rawat. She captioned the image as, “Wish you all a Happy New Year from the Rewa and Rawat Family with a message to spread Love, Peace, feeling of Unity, Happiness and good health to the World and our Country.” While many reprised the cute family pictures, trolls took a dig at Mohena and trolled her for covering her face with a ghunghat in the picture.

An Instagram user wrote, “Why is your face under the veil ?” and even before Mohena could answer the question, came an inappropriate comment by another user that read, “because these are people who follow their so-called male-dominated rituals. Even education doesn’t get them a brain.”

The actress decided not to keep quiet about it and gave back to this user with a befitting reply. She said, “even Christians have a veil when they marry…and so do Muslims … I guess they are all uneducated too! It’s an age old Rajput tradition which Rajput women follow when they get married. This was not forced upon me… I chose to do it.”

Mohena’s husband too joined the banter and supported her wife with a powerful reply. His comeback to the user’s comment was, “your awareness seems like a glass half empty not half full your perspective is like half knowledge which is dangerous you seem to be arrogant, unaware and claiming to be a pseudo intellect next time please google before throwing a statement because it might not go down well with many #publicitystunt.”

The actress is spending a happy time post-wedding getting dressed, savouring lots of spicy food, performing pujas and meeting new friends. She said, “It’s like a break for me and it just feels so good.”

Mohena has now shifted base to Dehradun and has no plans to return anytime soon.
