Madame Web had been a box office debacle, but it might find its audience online. The film was made available on some digital platforms just a month after its theatrical release. The film, starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, is one of the lowest-earning Marvel movies of all time. Keep scrolling for more.
What is Madame Web about?
It is the story of Cassandra Webb, a paramedic from New York who starts to show signs of clairvoyance. She gets burdened with the task of protecting three girls from a mysterious entity who wants them dead. Dakota is in the titular role with Sydney Sweeney as Julia Cornwall, Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon, and Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin.
How did it do at the box office?
Madame Web was made on a reported budget of $80 million, and it earned only $15.33 million on its domestic weekend. Overall, the Dakota Johnson-led Marvel movie has made $97 million, as per Box Office Mojo. It is clearly a box office disaster.

When & Where is it coming?
As per Digital Spy’s report, Madame Web has been made available on the digital platform Prime Video for people in the US since March 15. They can rent it or buy the movie for $19.99 and $24.99 respectively. Its UK release date has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson upset Sony’s producers by not taking responsibility for Madame Web’s box office failure. In an interview with Bustle Johnson, she said she would probably never do anything like this again and also mentioned that she knew the film would go down like this among the audience. She said, “My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not. Audiences will always be able to sniff out bullshit. Even if films start to be made with AI, humans aren’t going to f**king want to see those.”
It allegedly made the producers, including Sony, angry with Johnson, as an insider claimed and told Daily Mail, “Lots of people at Sony are questioning her star power, and how she reacted to this failure will likely come back to haunt her.”
On the other hand, Sydney Sweeney, reacting to Madame Web’s poor reception, told the LA Times, “I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen.” She even joked about the movie’s box office result at the Saturday Night Live!
