The coronavirus pandemic has bought the entire world to a practical standstill. With film and tv shoots globally being stalled, these are turbulent days for artists and daily wage labourer’s of film sets. In such turbulent times, Sacred Games fame actress Kubbra Sait has opened up about the beating that actors will have to face.
Kubbra, who was recently posting postcard pictures from her days in Ireland, claims to have bagged a project with one of the biggest production houses there. But now, with the shootings coming to a stall due to the coronavirus, Kubbra says she does not know where her next paycheque will come from as she has not taken up any new projects due to the Ireland project.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Kubbra has revealed, “I knew that this project was going to have me busy till June, so I didn’t take anything up (in India) till then, and now knowing that this is also going to get pushed, I’m literally sitting on nothing. When you’re talking about artistes taking a huge beating (because of the situation), it’s true because I really don’t know where my next cheque is going to come from.”
But what was freaking out the actress more was being quarantined in an Indian hospital. Kubbra who returned to India on the 13th of March, said, “I was freaking out about being quarantined in India. I had this feeling that you go to any government hospital, and you realise (that as a country) we’re not ready to deal with a collapse… I read about families that came back from Spain, a 17-year-old breaking down and saying, ‘It has been seven hours, we have not got water’. Or look at the unclean toilet facilities. How do you expect people to make peace with that.”
