Recently, there were reports that RSS held 6 unofficial meetings with Netflix and Amazon executives in Mumbai and New Delhi to tone down the ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘anti-India’ content. However, director of Netflix International Originals (Films) Shrishti Behl Arya denied any such meetings between their team and RSS.
At an event recently, Shrishti addressed this topic and said she wasn’t aware of meetings between Netflix and RSS and called the reports “fake news”.

Earlier, a report in Economic Times mentioned that RSS wants these streaming platforms to cut down their contents that come across extreme in the way they portray the country. The report mentioned, “The RSS wants to restrict content ‘critical’ of the Indian standpoint on Kashmir or defamatory to Hindu symbols and the Indian Army.”

At the event, Shrishti Arya said, “The law of the land is not subjective like the storytelling. The law is the law. It’s not like, ‘I don’t like you, so I’m going to stab you.’ Whatever is permitted by the law, we would go into those spaces and the rest is all about the stories that creators want to tell.”
The debate of censorship on Netflix has been going on for quite some time. While the majority of the audience isn’t in support of censorship in the digital content, no one knows what lies in the future of these platforms.
