The moment Jennifer Aniston entered as Rachel in FRIENDS, deep down our hearts, we knew she’s doing to have one hell of a character. Indeed she did, and over the years she went on to earn a considerable chunk of fans because of the show. But did you know? Jen almost lost her role of Rachel Green because of some reason.
Yes, we would almost have not seen Jen as Rachel and that’s enough of the thought to scare the FRIENDS fans in us. The reason stated for the same is Jen’s weight. Makers asked Jen to lose weight for Rachel’s character and a LOT of it.
Saul Austerlitz, in his book Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show that Defined a Television Era has revealed the same. It reads, “Jennifer Aniston had to lose thirty pounds if she wanted to stay in Hollywood. Los Angeles was a tough place to be an actress — it was a tough place to be a woman — and her agent was reluctantly leveling with her.”

Jennifer Aniston’s father has been a part of the television industry which has helped her to know the nitty-gritty of it. The book also states, “Aniston was hardly fat — everyone could see she was beautiful — but as the show, she would one day become indelibly associated with later made a point of noting, the camera added ten pounds.”
Back in 1996, in her conversation with Rolling Stone, Jennifer Aniston had talked about her weight loss process, “I ate too many mayonnaise sandwiches. Mayonnaise on white bread –— the most delicious thing in the world. My agent gave it to me straight. Nicest thing he ever did…. The disgusting thing of Hollywood — I wasn’t getting lots of jobs because I was too heavy. I was like, ‘What?!’ But my diet was terrible. Milk shakes and French fries with gravy.”
