Sunil Grover is coming up with his new comedy show on Star Bharat named, ‘Gangs Of Filmistaan’, and we can’t be more excited. We recently got candid with the talented comedian about the show, his equation with Kapil Sharma, his quarantined birthday and much more.
Sunil was not seen on television for a long time now, we asked him what made him say yes to this one. To which, the ace comedian replied, “I think during this lockdown, everything we were supposed to do got pushed. Different things were planned. This is when I was offered this show and I thought it is the right time when people need to laugh. I am thankful to Star Bharat for offering me the show. And so, I could connect with people and we can do something for them. Whatever we can contribute to these times, let’s do that! Let’s see!”
Sunil Grover also opened up about why the show is different to him. He said, “The idea has been the same what has always been, to make people laugh and entertain. It’s all the more needed. It’s different for me because this time I will be viewing the performers, the actors from a little distance and appreciating them. I will be playing the character of a Don. These guys are performing and I will be appreciating their performance and adding my bit to it.”

Since it’s also a comedy show, people are comparing it with The Kapil Sharma Show. Sunil Grover spoke about his take on the same. He said, “See, this show’s format is different, the concept is different and if there is comparison bound to happen, it’s a Monday to Friday show and if people want to compare, Please compare.”
Sunil Grover added, “My purpose in the show is completely different. I am not an active performer here. I am active but a passive performer where I am on the other side. I will be viewing people performing and sitting on this side so it’s a new experience for me. I am doing it for experience sake and also for making people laugh, so it excites me hence I am excited to be a part of the show.”
Sunil Grover recently celebrated his Birthday on 3rd August. His mom prepared a special Halwa cake for him. Even Kapil Sharma didn’t stop himself from wishing the comedian a Happy Birthday on Twitter. Sunil also replied to him graciously. This made us wonder if we get to see both of these gems collaborate again in future. Sunil said, “It’s sweet of him to wish me and I feel that we have done great work in the past. And that work is still with me. I hope if somewhere circumstances, situations and projects come where we can collaborate, we will.”
Talking about ‘Gangs Of Filmistaan,’ Sunil revealed that there will be no guests on his show. They will start the shoot within a week. He said, “We will be shooting in a week and this will air somewhere in August end. I am looking forward and of course, we will take all safety measures. After lockdown, I will be shooting for the first time.”
