Doctor Who fans are in for a treat! British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC has dropped good news for all of you and the timing couldn’t have been better.

So far, thirteen actors have headlined the series as the Doctor Who and have become a significant part of British popular culture. The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989 and has now gained a cult following throughout the world.

The latest is that the space-time continuum will now have Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor Who. After almost 15 years later, Eccleston is all set to reprise as the Ninth Doctor in the show. Big Finish Productions and BBC Studios had announced that the actor will voice the Ninth Doctor in a series of 12 adventures contained in four box sets. And the volume one of the series will be released in May 2021.

Christopher Eccleston expressed his thoughts about his comeback in the show, he said: “It will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor’s world, bringing back to life a character I love playing.”

Eccleston had refrained from getting involved in any Doctor Who projects ever since he left after leading one season in 2005. Reportedly, the Ninth Doctor had silently hung up his leather jacket and departed the franchise following behind-the-scenes turmoil. The season one of the hit science fiction television programmes, which served as the franchise’s comeback for the “modern” era.

Following Eccleston departure from Doctor Who, other Doctors, such as David Tennant and Matt Smith had used the opportunity to reprise their characters in additional specials or audio series. The actor also revealed to Radio Times in 2018 the reason behind he didn’t make any comeback earlier. He said that the British film and television industry blacklisted him after he left Doctor Who. It occurred due to a strained relationship with his “three immediate superiors”.
