Tamil actor Vijay aka Thalapathy Vijay is the latest South Indian celebrity to join the Green India Challenge. The Bigil actor took up the challenge after being nominated by Telugu star Mahesh Babu.

Mahesh Babu, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday, planted a sapling and tagged actors Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Jr NTR to do the same. Along with a video, the Pokiri actor tweeted that there was no better way to celebrate his birthday and requested those tagged to take ‘one step towards a greener world.’

On Tuesday, Thalapathy Vijay accepted the challenge and posted a few pictures of him planting a sapling. His tweet read: “This is for you @urstrulyMahesh garu. Here’s to a Greener India and Good health. Thank you #StaySafe.”

Seeing the tweet, Mahesh Babu responded writing: “Thanks a lot brother for taking this up Stay safe! (sic).”

Celebrating his 45th birthday, Mahesh Babu he took part in the Green India challenge and posted a video of him planting a sapling writing: “There couldn’t be a better way to celebrate my birthday #GreenIndiaChallenge I pass this on to @tarak9999, @actorvijay & @shrutihaasan. Let the chain continue and transcend boundaries I request all of you to support the cause. One step towards a greener world! (sic).” Check it out here:

Several south Indian celebrities like Nagarjuna, Samantha Akkineni, Parvathy and Nazriya Nazim have participated in the Green India Challenge.

On the work front, actor Thalapathy Vijay will soon star in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action thriller Master. Mahesh Babu’s last release, Sarileru Neekevvaru, was a commercial success.
