It’s raining awards in the Indian film industry, after the announcement of National Film Awards last week. The SIIMA (South Indian International Movie Awards) was announced yesterday.
The eighth edition of SIIMA is currently being held in Doha, Qatar this year. It is traditionally two-day fest, the first day (15th August) was dedicated to Telugu and Kannada films. The second day (today) will be dedicated to the Malayalam and Tamil awards.

Best Cinematographer: Rathnavelu for Rangasthalam
Best Lyrics Writer: Chandra Bose for ‘Yentha Sakkagunave’ in Rangasthalam.
Vijay Devarakonda bagged the award under Best Actor Critics category for his performance in Geetha Govindam, which has the ‘Arjun Reddy’ star in a romantic avatar.
Keerthy Suresh who recently bagged a National Award for her performance in Mahanati, the biopic based on the life of popular yesteryear actress Savitri, was awarded SIIMA under the category of Best Actress In Lead Role For Telugu for the same film.
Ram Charan, the Telugu star went on the bag the biggie for his film ‘Rangasthalam’, which had the superstar playing challenging the role of a partially hearing impaired innocent guy. The film when released set box office on fire as it garnered 100 plus crores.

Best Actor in Negative Role: Dhananjaya for Tagaru
Best comedian: Prakash Thuminad for Sarkar.Hi.Pra.Shaale.Kasaragodu
It was a hat-trick for the team ‘ KGF: Chapter 1‘ as they went on to win three awards in three categories.
Yash who went on to become household name post his performance in KFG following his powerful act in the film had all applauds and appreciation from the audience.
The Malayalam and Tamil awards will be announced tonight.
