We all saw how RRR turned out to be a global phenomenon upon its arrival in 2022. Apart from the phenomenal success in India, the film set the box office on fire across the world. If the commercial success was not enough, the film received remarkable support from western media, and the biggie even went on to win an Oscar for India. Now, director SS Rajamouli has shared the biggest possible news of today by spilling beans about the highly-anticipated sequel.
SS Rajamouli attends a special screening in Japan
For those who aren’t aware, the biggie was released in Japan in October 2022. It’s hard to believe, but it is still running in theatres and continues to attract footfalls. As per the last report, the collection has gone well above 140 crores (in INR). Amid such a craze, yesterday, Rajamouli attended a special screening of the Jr NTR-Ram Charan starrer and also had an interactive session with fans. During the same, the acclaimed filmmaker addressed the much-talked-about RRR sequel.
Rajamouli confirms RRR 2!
The RRR sequel has been in the news for the last few months, and not anyone but SS Rajamouli himself confirmed that the sequel is definitely on the cards. As soon as Rajamouli uttered RRR 2’s name, the audience present in the hall started cheering and clapping. He further added, “I have ideas, but I can’t share with you at this point of time.”

When the RRR sequel might happen?
Rajamouli confirming RRR 2 is definitely big news, but one has to also think that right now, the filmmaker is occupied with a magnum opus. For the unversed, Rajamouli is currently working on a film with Mahesh Babu. The shooting of the same is yet to start, and considering the theme of jungle adventure, it is expected that the director will be busy for at least 2-3 years.
After 2-3 years, he’ll lock the RRR 2’s script, and all other formalities will take place. So, it seems that there’s a lot of time to even think about the sequel now. As SS Rajamouli confirmed, the sequel will definitely happen, but it’ll take at least 4-5 years from now.
