Kalki 2898 AD is one of the biggest releases of 2024. The sci-fi dystopian film stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Prakash Raj and Disha Patani. Recently, the Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha Elections dates for 2024. The voting is scheduled in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on May 13, 2024. The first phase begins on April 19, 2024, and the results will be announced on June 4, 2024. So, all the focus is going to be on these upcoming elections. Kalki 2898 AD is shot in Telugu and Hindi languages simultaneously. So, if the major Telugu-speaking states will be busy with the polls, one wonders if it is the right time to release such a big film!

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), several netizens and Prabhas fans believe indeed that Kalki 2898 AD will definitely get postponed. Some fans even suggested the dates the makers should opt for to release their sci-fi thriller. One person tweeted, “Elections or not, May 9 was NEVER a good date to begin with. As #Kalki2898AD is aiming largely at USA market, clashing with Planet of the Apes was never a good idea. IMAX screens are necessary. July 4 or July 12 are the best dates for max screen count, both in India & overseas.”

Meanwhile, the film is cited as the most expensive Indian film ever made. It was also the first Indian film presented at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2023. Prabhas plays the character Bhairava in the Nag Ashwin directorial. The details about Deepika Padukone’s character in Kalki 2898 AD are under wraps.
So far, the makers haven’t commented on whether the film’s release has been postponed. Until then, the release date of the Prabhas starrer stays May 9.
