Actress Keerthy Suresh is on top of the world following all the applauds and praises which she has been receiving from all over after bagging the National Award under Best Actress category for her blockbuster hit, ‘Mahanati’.
The actress who is all busy receiving congratulatory messages in an interview stated that she had least expected to win the National Award, and it was no less than a surprise for her when it was declared, as she said, “I just couldn’t believe it! It took some time for the fact to sink in that I have won a national award.”
The young actress who played the biopic based on life of popular yesteryear actress Savitri, in an interview stated that her phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since the news of her winning the National Award was declared.
Keerthy in an interview to Deccan Chronicle said, “I think this is the first time I have had to answer hundreds of calls, and it’s overwhelming.”
The ‘Mahanati’ actress also stated that it wouldn’t have been possible without her parents support, as it’s because of their support and faith in her she choose acting as her career, and it was only possible because of their guidance that she could win the prestigious award, as she said, “I would like to dedicate this award to my parents who stood behind me at all times,”
“The best part of these joyous moments is that my parents are beside me, and several friends and relatives are thronging my house. I feel humble and gratified,” added the actress.

Talking about her parents, Keerthy’s mother , Menaka Sureshkumar, is a veteran actress down south and is a well known name in South film industry. Whereas her father , Suresh Kumar, is a well known filmmaker down south.
Keerthy, who was last seen in Vijay starrer Tamil flick ‘Sarkar’, also stated that she has become very choosy when it comes to choosing films, as she said, After doing Mahanati, I have become very choosy and have been trying to strike a balance between doing commercials and performance-based films. This award is like a validation of my hard work and belief system.”
Apart from bagging National Award For Best Actress, the film ‘Mahanati’ also bagged two more awards under the categories of Best Regional Film (Telugu) and Best Custome.
‘Mahanati’, was released in May 2018on big screens. The biopic had actor Dulquer Salmaan in lead opposite Keerthy, alongwith Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Devarakonda in major roles.
