Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram was one of the major Tollywood releases that arrived during the Sankranti festive season. However, it failed to leave any mark at the Indian box office and earned just below 130 crores net. Clearly, it didn’t perform up to the mark despite the holiday season. But now, upon its release on Netflix, the film is garnering the major attention of the viewers. Keep reading to know more!
After Sarkaru Vaari Paata, this was a comeback vehicle for Mahesh Babu after a gap of one and a half years. Another reason that made the film special was that it marked the reunion of Mahesh Babu and renowned director Trivikram after Athadu and Khaleja. Expectedly, the film took a flying start, but right from the second day onwards, it went downhill.
Guntur Kaaram shines on Netflix!
Leaving the poor theatrical run behind, Guntur Kaaram is now enjoying popularity after its OTT release and has managed to grab a spot in the top 10 films on Netflix (non-English films). Interestingly, the Telugu version and the Hindi version have been entered into the list for the period from February 5 to February 11.

For those who don’t know, Guntur Kaaram premiered on Netflix on 9th February. So, the list includes the data of only 3 days. Within 3 days, the Mahesh Babu starrer has scored an impressive viewership of 3.1 million (inclusive of the Telugu and the Hindi version). Including the dubbed Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions, the viewership might have reached 4 million views.
Crosses 8 million hours with just two versions!
Guntur Kaaram‘s Telugu version grabbed the 6th spot on the list and was watched for 5.3 million hours. Speaking about the Hindi version, it grabbed the 10th spot and was watched for 2.8 million hours on Netflix within 3 days. The total of these two versions only goes up to 8.1 million hours.

The Mahesh Babu starrer did a business of 125.89 crores net at the Indian box office, which equals 148.55 crores gross. In the overseas market, the film made just 31 crores gross. Combining both, it stands at a global sum of 179.55 crores gross.
