Join UsLast year saw Akshay Kumar’s foray into the South industry with the sci-fi thriller, 2.0, also starring Rajinikanth as the protagonist. While the movie received rave reviews, specially for its VFX, it’s budget of 450 crores+ was something that dropped jaws! Sadly, the movie has been stuck into a controversy after subtitle writer, Rekhs, accused the makers of not paying her dues yet.
The movie released in November last year in 3 different versions – Hindi, Tamil & Telugu. Rekhs who was looking after the Tamil & Telugu subtitles has alleged that the makers have not paid her dues and despite contacting them multiple times, there has been no response whatsoever.
In a conversation with Cinema Express, Rekhs revealed to it all as she began, “The film got released in November. I gave them 10 months to settle my payments. I messaged, called and mailed them numerous times, but, all my efforts were futile.”

Moreover, the artist has also accused the makers of not giving her the due credit. “Subtitles are the backbones of films. Gary Whitta, the writer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, said he was able to enjoy 2.0 because of the subtitles. But, people in the film industry hardly realize it’s importance. A film reaches a global audience when it carries a subtitle. I just wanted to make the producers who’ll be associating with in the future to think twice before defaulting my payment, that’s the reason why I tweeted about this,” she revealed.

However, the spokesperson of accused production company, Lyca Productions, which backed the movie has rubbished all the rumours. “Our company is extremely reachable, and Rekhs’ claims stating that we were unresponsive to her calls and emails are baseless and false. We always make sure that all our collaborators are paid on time. The executive producer felt extremely bad on seeing her tweet and has asked the production unit of 2.0 to find the payment records to prove our innocence,” said the spokesperson.
