What’s Bad: Almost everything! A ludicrous script, poor direction and uninspired acting.

Michael Mishra (Arshad Warsi) is a popular goon from Patna, known for kidnapping. In his teenage years, Michael, once a popular tailor, accidentally kills someone and soon enters the world of crime. Whilst running away from the police, he comes across a young girl and there is love at first sight.
While he returns to the same place that he saw her, destiny does not let them meet. Years later, he comes across Varsha Shukla (Aditi Rao Hydari) whose ‘Hello’ is the same as the little girl who he met years back.
Thus, Michael starts to woo her. After confessing their love for each other, she asks him to shed his goon image and become a respectable person.
Will Michael be able to leave all his criminal activities for Varsha?
The Legend of Michael Mishra Review: Script Analysis
There are times when you feel like ripping your hair off whilst watching a film and that is what this film does to you.
Whoever wrote this script, needs to seriously consider his profession. To start with, a teenage love story that is based on a girl’s voice saying ‘Hello’ is simply unpalatable. It’s as if Varsha’s voice or accent could not have changed for years.
Originally supposed to be funny, the film has nothing quirky to offer and hence if you do find yourself letting out a chuckle, you may feel like checking your sense of humor.
There are also some meaningless twists that come your way and if you’re a Bollywood fan, you will be easily able to foresee them.
The representation of small towns is pathetic as always. For god sake, someone tell the makers that Patna is much more than goons and guns. Also, a western wear is pretty much regular there hence our leading lady’s ethnic attire is quite uncalled for.
While there was no periodic angle given to the film, it is hard to digest why Varsha and Michael converse via letters rather than What’s App.
Basically, any kind of logic is missing in this plot.
The Legend of Michael Mishra Review: Star Performance
Arshad Warsi is actually a good actor and hence it is sad to see him take up such roles. Thanks to a badly written character, his act too falters. Also, he seems to be struggling to get the Bihari accent right.
Aditi Rao Hydari looks great but her act is quite average. She tries hard to impress as the glam girl with the love letter song but fails do so.
Boman Irani is the narrator in the film and he is the only good thing but because of the story he is telling, one may not like him too!
Boman’s son Kayoze Irani too is seen in the film as Half Ticket. He is Arshad’s right hand. I have no clue why Kayoze took up this role. It is far from being funny.
The Legend of Michael Mishra Review: Direction, Music
Manish Jha’s film The Legend Of Michael Mishra hardly has anything legendary in it. If the ludicrous plot was any less bothering, poor direction will further irritate you.
So while Patna looks like the 90s film towns where there are streets filled with hawkers, Jha’s setting too is similar of the era.
In one of the scenes where Michael is put in jail and where the other prisoners try to escape, the explosions portrayed are so poorly crafted that you can’t help but laugh at the scene and its terrible execution. Also post that, the jailer is seen playing the mouth organ with the Sholay theme. Yea! What can one say about that?
The soundtrack of the film was already not praiseworthy and the addition of songs one after another becomes highly annoying for the viewer.
The second half stretches a lot and if you have managed to stay on your seat till then, that’s an achievement.
Since the background score is extremely loud, you may not be able to doze off either.

The Legend Of Michael Mishra is a complete waste of your time and money. If you manage to survive this film without a head-ache, you shall be the legend! A 1/5 for this!
