What’s Good: As millions of people across the globe were awaiting to see the lightsabers shine again, the new installment of the Star Wars franchise surely made sure to delight everyone. Everyone who will flock to the theaters with the hope of having the Star Wars experience will leave the theaters with happy faces as the film leaves you spellbound and even teary eyed with excitement at start as the new chapter begins.
What’s Bad: Since I was watching a press screening for the film, we were able to watch it without an interval. I bet the interval would be a bad thing for the rest of the audiences who would not want to take a break from the gripping story.
Loo Break: Not Unless You’re Being Forced To Take One!
Watch or Not?: Any true Star Wars fan is surely not going to wait for anyone’s command to watch the film. We have awaited long and hence it is a must-watch for all those who believe in and have lived in this intergalactic system as their own.

Approximately 30 years since the events of ‘Return Of The Jedi’, the new installment once again rolls in its signature style. If the Star Wars theme is not enough to give you goosebumps, what unfolds ahead surely will.
The last Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker is at large and in his absence, the First Order is at its most powerful. Being led by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) the only thing standing in between them from attaining complete dominance is Luke.
A map of missing Sywalker’s whereabouts is entrusted to the droid BB-8. Introducing a string of new characters, the one a newer set of audiences would connect to would be Finn (John Boyega) who is a Stormtrooper with the First Order. The only thing that he was taught to do was kill but his conscience conflicts him and hence he flees. The reason we can connect to him is that like us, he has heard about the legends of the Force but never experienced them.
Rey (Daisy Ridley) is a scavenger in Jakku and her past is kept well-hidden for us. The harsh desserts of Jakku have toughened her and she is the damsel who doesn’t need to be saved from distress.
Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is the Resistance’s star fighter. He is one o the most trusted operatives of Princess Leia. He is known to be the man who can fly anything and just when you think he is the new Han Solo well, the actual Han Solo does appear.
What happens when Han Solo, Chewie, Rey, Finn & Poe team up? Will they be successful in destroying Kylo Ren’s First Order? The biggest question of all, will the quest for the last Jedi Master Luke Skywalker end?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review: Script Analysis
What could be easily said as the best part about The Force Awakens is the fact that the beauty with which it connects the past and the present. After introducing new characters for whom Han Solo, Millennium Falcon have been legends and mythology, the ease with which the plot brings them all together is brilliant.
Second thing that runs extremely well all through the film is humor. Whether it is the little laugh you will have when Rey calls the Millennium Falcon a piece of junk or Han Solo giving love advise to Finn.
Also when it comes to the lead antagonist, while at start one would feel Kylo Ren to be a little vulnerable and way less compared to a Darth Vader, there is much more to him as the story progresses. He is shown to have his bouts of anger but since I can’t give away any spoilers, I would just say, wait for his moment to shine when you least expect it.
One thing one would definitely notice with this new installment is that the women are at the forefront. On one hand there is a fearless Rey who is even after being offered an assistance job by the great Han Solo, determined to go back to the hardships in Jakku because she feels it is the place where some day her family will come finding for her. On the other, there is also Princess Leia who is heading the Resistance and has not given up on her brother Luke Skywalker’s search.
The inclusion of the most popular elements or I’d rather say what makes Star Wars Star Wars such as R2D2 is a delight.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review: Star Performance
Daisy Ridley will be praised by one and all for her stupendous performance as Rey. Her toughened act is worth a thousand praises and the confidence with which she flies the Millennium Falcon make up for some brilliant scenes.
John Boyega as Finn is also a watcher. His conflicted nature and his yearning to become one of the Force members and not the First Order is quite evident. Not to mention his honesty in the scenes where he instantly confesses to BB-8 about being a Stormtrooper who fled from the First Order.
Harrison Ford is back as Han Solo and it actually seems just like yesterday. He may have wanted his character to be dead way back but we are just happy enough to see him in Force Awakens.
Adam Driver is a perfect fit as Kylo Ren. If you find him brilliant with the mask, wait until he takes it off. Ladies, get ready to swoon over Driver’s cold stares and anger when he keeps that mask off.
Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron is also impressive in a shorter role.
Lupita Nyong plays Maz Kanata, a bar owner/ a Yoda-ish influence for Rey. The look of her character is more like ‘an old lady with glasses’. Lupita blends in well but must say, lacks the hold and charm a Yoda would have.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review: Music, Direction
It must have been a lot of pressure for J.J Abrams to take forward a legacy like that of Star Wars. As a fan of the series, I would not be lying if I say I had moist eyes when the film’s opening titles rolled along with its magnificent theme. That’s it, that’s the moment you know your life is going to change.
It would be safe to say that now I do not have any regrets as I would not be dying without having watched a Star Wars movie in the theater.
What could be seen as flaws in the film would be the way certain scenes have been crafted In many scenes we can sense what is expected to happen next and I would say one of them is the scene where Han Solo enters the frame. Nonetheless, you will hoot and whistle to his first scene.
Another problem I had with Abrams would be, his inability to show some active interactions between the non-human characters in the film. We saw, quite less of Chewie talking and more of him standing in the background. Also if Maz, was a Yoda replacement for this film, it did not work well. Her look is too puppetty.
There never was and never will be a problem with the music of Star Wars. It is a bliss to listen to the theme in theaters.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review: The Last Word
This is Star Wars, do I need to mention why you must watch it? The Force Awakens is the new beginning by J J Abrams and is satiating enough for the franchise fans. I am going with a 4.5/5 for this film!
