Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai comes up with an interesting plot which includes politics and emotion. Arya is an activist who is interested in bringing a positive change in the society. Karthika Nair too likes Arya and she moves close to him.
Unfortunately, Arya faces tough times and gets dragged till death penalty. Karthika Nair tries to pull him out of the case.
Shaam and Vijay Sethupathi are the Police Officer in charge and Executioner for Arya. How Karthika Nair manages to get Arya out of this case and will the Officer in charge and Executioner help her or Arya in this attempt, forms the rest of the story.
Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai Review: Script Analysis
When dealing with social issues that too in a sensitive time span, it turns to be a tough one for the film maker to precisely edit the script. Without touching any controversial topics, film maker tactically showed political issue, in an interesting way. Script gave equal priority to all the lead characters.
Script’s main focus was on the lead actors but the remaining cast and crew too were given a chance to prove themselves. It could have been better if the film maker added few commercial elements too to the script in an interesting way.

Arya, as usual, was at his best. He has got the best challenging role in this film and he once again proved himself to be a worthy lead actor. As an activist and a socially responsible person, Arya did his part well in the flick.
Unlike other commercial ventures, Karthika had a performance oriented role in this flick. Her dialogues and the way she expresses emotions were well taken care of.
Shaam has past experience acting in Police roles. In Tollywood and Kollywood, he did few flicks which were on the same lines and hence this flick turned to be a cake walk for him.
Vijay’s role remained a suspense till the last moment and audience will get impressed with his acting ability.
Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai Review: Direction, Editing and Screenplay
S P Jananathan, who not only directed this film, but also co-produced it along with Siddharth, took care that this venture hits the right chord. Even though the message was delivered in the right way, the pace of the flick looked unstable for a while for the audience. It in fact tested the patience of the audience. Placement of few scenes and songs too was not perfect. Screenplay could have been much better.
Visuals were good and the art director can be appreciated for his effort.

It is a good attempt from S P Jananathan, with respect to the concept of the film. But, it would have been the best if the film maker could have controlled all other departments too in the right way.
