WWE Star Sami Zayn Stripped Of His WWE Intercontinental Title!
WWE: Sami Zayn Stripped Of His Intercontinental Title

WWE has announced a tournament on this Friday Night Smackdown to determine a new Intercontinental champion as the former Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn has been forced to forfeit the title. The news of Sami being stripped of his title came out from WWE Backstage as Fox Sports official WWE account declared that the title has been declared vacant because Zayn was unable to compete and defend it.

Zayn has been missing from the ring since WrestleMania 36 when he successfully defended the title against Daniel Bryan. Reportedly Sami Zayn was supposed to compete for an April 23rd episode of SmackDown but he decided not to compete due to coronavirus concerns. To strip Sami of his title is shocking as WWE has previously told its wrestlers that they would not face any consequences over pulling out of the shows due to coronavirus concerns.

WWE officially declared this news on its website by quoting, “With Sami Zayn currently unable to defend the Intercontinental Championship, it was revealed on WWE Backstage on FS1 that the title has been declared vacant.”A tournament will begin this Friday night on SmackDown to crown a new champion. Stay with WWE’s digital and social channels for more on this developing story”.

Sami Zayn has been quite vocal on Twitter about his disappointment with the American government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. His latest tweet shows his concern for the people of America.

Apart from the NXT Championship, the Intercontinental Championship was the only title Sami won in the main roster. He made his Monday Night Raw debut on May 4, 2015.
