DC fans have been all excited to witness Robert Pattinson take up The Batman avatar in the upcoming superhero flick. However, another character that fans have been elated to witness is that of Joker, who made a lot of noise after Joaquin Phoenix’s kickass portrayal. However, filmmaker Kevin Smith has an altogether different choice for the titular role.
In a recent interview, Kevin revealed that he’s looking forward to witness Pirates Of The Carribean fame, Johnny Depp, stepping into the shoes of Joker. Lately, there have been rumours around the actor playing the role, but it’s all been addressed by the author now.
During the Fatman Beyond podcast, Kevin Smith addressed the rumours of Johnny Depp being in talks for Joker’s role in Matt Reeves’ superhero flick. A report by Screenrant reveals it all as, “Kevin Smith noted that Depp’s conversation with makers was a first in relation to the possibility of a Joker being in The Batman, against the backdrop of Joaquin Phoenix winning an Oscar for his role as the Clown Prince in 2019 DC hit Joker, a movie that earned over $1 billion at the box office. Smith declared that Depp would be “f-cking perfect” for the role of the character who won both Phoenix and the deceased Heath Ledger Oscars. He did go on to downplay the possibility, but pointed out that it would be a lot of fun if Depp were to land the part (if there is one).”
Meanwhile, owing to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, makers of The Batman have shut down the production work for the next 2 weeks.
