2013 is turning out to be an exciting year as number of sequels are all set to hit the screens. Starting from a medium budget Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns to a biggie like Dhoom:3, there are as many as six sequels vouching for audience attention.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns [1st March]
On its release, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster was one of the many films that was trying to make its space amongst others. At the box office too it was a moderate success. However word of mouth did the trick for the film as the film continued to find its audience even after disappearing from theatres. On satellite as well as home video front, it started gaining cult status and it was but obvious that a sequel was on the cards. With the First Look of the sequel doing the trick, expect the film to create some good hype around itself.
Shootout At Wadala [1st May]
The film has been in news ever since it was announced and with the multi starrer setup as well as the core setting giving it a biopic feel, Shootout At Wadala should prove to be a massive affair on it’s arriving. Reports are that John Abraham has come up with his career best performance in this gangster affair and if the film indeed catches fancy of the audience, it has in it to reach the 100 crore mark.
Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 [7th June]
What goes in favour of this all-Deol affair is the fact that director Sangeeth Sivan knows a thing or two about comedies, case in point being Kya Kool Hain Hum and Apna Sapna Money Money. Now one waits to see whether the film is a true blue sequel or basically has each of the characters being just repeated, albeit in a different setting and scenario (as has been the case in Housefull and Golmaal series).
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 [8th August]
Piping hot ever since its announcement, the film has managed to stay on as one of the most awaited sequels despite the fact that it has an altogether different list of actors. With Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan stepping into the film and Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi making way for them, the sequel is holding good ground due to curiosity around checking out what the film is all about.
Krrish 3 [Diwali 2013]
When Roshans come together, there has to be magic. Rakesh Roshan has always been ahead of the times and with Krrish 3 he has many frontiers to cross as technology has advanced in a major way. One can expect though that along with style, Roshans would have content doing a major part of the talking as the filmmaker has always believed in story holding precedence over technique.
Dhoom 3 [Christmas 2013]
The franchise prides itself on being a popcorn affair with style ruling the roost and this is what is expected from Dhoom:3 as well which is all set to be yet another Aamir Khan film to enter the 200 crore club. The Christmas arrival should further help its cause and in the process lend Chopras yet another major box office biggie after Ek Tha Tiger.
