With Mental’s release date scheduled for November 22, 2013, it seems Salman, the People’s Man does not want to disappoint his fans which is why he apparently pushed hard for a release this year to bring back the smile of his avid lovers back in the right place. With his pending court hearing and the Sanjay Dutt conviction, one would call this a wiser move as our Chulbul Pandey is all set to go Mental this year!
With his last release in December last year, that too being the superbly successful action sequel Dabangg 2, ardent Salman fans have been eyeing for their favourite Bhaijaan to light up screens this year with numerous releases. But a Royal Bengal Tiger causing havoc in the Sher Khan schedule and the delay in Kick, all eyes were on Sohail Khan’s Mental. But Salman’s aggravated nerve disorder forced Sohail to push forward the date of the film’s release, with him not willing to compromise on his brother’s already deteriorating health.
But, Salman, despite suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia has made it crystal clear that he doesn’t want to spare the box office from being shattered by him this year too. And with all his favourite festive seasons booked already by his contemporaries: Shah Rukh’s Chennai Express and Akshay’s Once upon A Time in Mumbaai Again coming on Eid this year, Hrithik’s superhero flick Krrish 3 coming on Diwali and Aamir Khan’s magnanimous Dhoom 3 releasing on Christmas, Salman had to take non-festive route this time.
None the less, Salman has eyed on a November 22 release which in turn is all set to cause rampage to the much awaited Sanjay Bhansali directed Ram Leela’ which releases a week after (29th November). Salman, whose films have had a constant two-three week long super-run at the box office, is in all probabilities causing a wreck for the director, whose film’s business will be hugely dampened by the coming of the warrior prince. Plus, a much lesser famous names of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh would hardly be reasons enough to put pressure on our Dabangg hero!
And going the past roads, it would definitely be a major clash with Sanjay and Salman, long-lost buddies gearing up off an ultimate face-off. While Sanjay has the power of the ‘Content’, Salman has the power of the ‘Connect’! Salman and Sanjay have previously paired up for some beautiful films like Khamoshi: The Musical, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Sawaariya. But the relationship that turned kaput with Salman making frivolous comments on Guzaarish and Sanjay chucking Salman out of his dream project, Bajirao Mastani, would just take a new turn with the alleged collision this winter.
But what needs to be seen is how things fare in the coming months: whether Sanjay decides to move on with his already decided Nov 29 release date or will Salman have a change in his plans? In any case, this soured feud has just taken off to an elevated level of fierce competition, bitterness and foul monopoly!
