Champagne is being popped for the team of ABCD sooner than one would have expected. With the opening numbers turning out to be as good as 5.5 crores, the film has ended gaining numbers which are not just impressive but the kind that put it in the safe zone right away. The manner in which this mid-budget film enjoyed good footfalls from its target audience has prompted UTV to throw a success party tonight itself.

“But then why wait when the numbers are even better than the likes of a biggie like ‘Ishaqzaade’ or even Remo’s own ‘F.A.L.T.U.'”, quips a source attached to the film, “Our film has managed to make inroads into the youth and it is time that the young ones who made it all possible celebrate. Lauren Gottlieb, Salman, Dharmesh, Punit – each one of them as well as the other actors and dancers deserve to let their hair down, party and dance like there is no tomorrow. This time around, they will dance for themselves and would be joined by Prabhudheva and Remo.”

The film, which opened on 750 screens (400 in 3D, 350 in 2D), took a step ahead in introducing a new genre in Bollywood.

Says Remo, “I am elated and super excited seeing how well the film has done nationally. It’s time to party for all of us and we are looking forward to it after all the hard work that all of us had put in. I am thrilled that people have liked my vision of a 3D dance film.”

The makers too are happy that the film has managed to demonstrate, yet again, that how audience is willing to embrace a high concept film even when it doesn’t boast of big stars.

“The team of ABCD is on top of the world with the incredible opening the film has taken. For all of us at Disney UTV, this is the strongest possible vindication of our creative instincts and of our strategy to focus on unique and compelling content which connects with audiences despite new faces and untested genres”, says Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director – Studios, Disney UTV.

He goes on to add, “Our shared vision to create India’s very first 3D dance film was executed superbly by Remo, and we now have a unique new franchise that can be built on in the years to come.”

We would look forward to that for sure.
