Japanese Production House Nikkatsu recently had a tie up with Yash Raj Films and has scheduled the release of some recent Hit Bollywood movies like Don 2, 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan in Japan. Though Bollywood and Japan hasn’t had much of a connection since the 1966 film Love In Tokyo, distributors in both countries are trying hard to make Bollywood more appealing to Japan.
The films will hit the theatres in nine important Japanese cities like Osaka, Kobe and Sappro, with an initial of 30 prints being released. With the increase of demand in Bollywood films, the number of prints will be increased to 60-70 as deemed necessary.

Hindi Cinema is becoming exceedingly popular in Japan and there is a need to make Bollywood more accessible to the Japanese audiences. Ek Tha Tiger, which released in Japan couple of days back, saw a great response complimented by cheering and clapping. What strikes foreign audiences the most is the dance and music sequences in Hindi films despite a clear language barrier! Also recently SRK-Deepika starrer Om Shanti Om released in Japan too.
The Japanese locales are also being used in Bollywood and officials are quite supportive of these ventures. Kabir Khan, the director of Ek Tha Tiger, is shooting for his next film in Japan and it has been going surprisingly smoothly for the crew.
