Also known as SKY, Suryakumar Yadav has come a long way in his cricketing career, as he has also left an impact on international cricket. As far as IPL is concerned, this is SKY’s 13th season, and he started off his innings in 2012. Yes, he has been a part of this blockbuster cricket league for 13 years now, and for the majority of the time, he has been associated with Mumbai Indians.
Suryakumar Yadav made his IPL debut in 2011 when he was bought by Mumbai Indians. He was a part of the blue gang as the powerful hitter of the ball. SKY got just one match to play, and that too in 2012. Unfortunately, even in that game, he didn’t get a chance to display his battling skills. Back then, he got just 10 lakhs as his salary, and it’s totally understood, considering he was totally a new face.

Suryakumar was released by Mumbai Indians, and he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. For his first season with KKR, he got a salary of 70 lakhs. During that season, he displayed his skill of striking the ball hard, but he still didn’t explode to his full potential. After that, he was retained by KKR for the next three editions and got the same amount.
It was in 2018 when Mumbai Indians decided to put some more money to get back Suryakumar Yadav on their side. For that edition of IPL, Mumbai happily paid 3.2 crores for SKY, which was an impressive growth of 3100% in his price. Even though it was a huge hike, it was worth every penny, as, in 2018, SKY scored 512 runs. After this performance, he has been with the Mumbai Indians as a retained player.
Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav was given a salary of 8 crores by Mumbai Indians while keeping him as a retained player in 2022. After that season, he got 8 crores in 2023, and even for this year, he got the same amount. Again, if we calculate the hike from his debut season’s price of 10 lakhs, it’s a hike of 7900%.
