Nitish Rana, the attacking left-handed batter and part-time off-spinner, is a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024. But there’s more to him than just his impressive cricket skills!
Nitish Rana started making his mark in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians. However, it was after being bought by KKR in the 2018 auction that his career truly took off. KKR recognized his batting prowess and retained him in the 2022 Mega Auction for a cool 8 crore. He’s even been able to play international cricket, representing India in a single ODI and a couple of T20Is against Sri Lanka in 2021.

Leadership runs in Rana’s blood (sort of!). When Shreyas Iyer was unavailable due to his injury in IPL 2023, Rana stepped up and donned the captain’s hat for KKR. While Iyer is back as captain for IPL 2024, Rana’s leadership qualities are undeniable.

Cricket fans weren’t the only ones surprised by Rana’s rise to fame. It turns out he’s also related to Bollywood actor Govinda! Rana’s wife, Sanchi Marwah, is Govinda’s niece, making Rana his son-in-law. Krushna Abhishek revealed this fun fact on The Kapil Sharma Show.
Rana’s success isn’t limited to the cricket pitch. As of 2024, his net worth is estimated at a staggering 40 crore. This impressive sum comes from his IPL contract, domestic match fees, and endorsement deals with brands like Sareen Sports (SS), CoinSwitch, and Adidas.

Rana isn’t afraid to venture beyond cricket. He’s a budding entrepreneur who opened NevRst, a gym in Delhi for fitness enthusiasts. He’s also the brand ambassador for SportsBuzz11, a fantasy sports platform.
Rana enjoys the fruits of his labour. He resides in a posh Delhi house designed by his wife, Sanchi Marwah and owns a collection of luxury cars, including an Audi RS5 V8, a Range Rover, a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and a Toyota Fortuner.
Rana proudly sports jersey number 27, which reflects his date of birth. He made his IPL debut back in 2015 with the Mumbai Indians and has since amassed a total of 2594 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 135.25.
Following in the footsteps of KKR legends Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir, both left-handed batsmen who captained the team previously, Rana idolizes these cricket greats.
Nitish Rana is more than just a cricketer – he’s a leader, a businessman, and a family man. With his talent and dedication, he will continue entertaining cricket fans for years to come!
