Warner Bros’ Scoob! To NOT Release In Theatres After All & Stream Straight To Digital

It’s not just Bollywood, but even the big-budget films in Hollywood are taking the cautious step of coming straight to digital. Scoob! backed by Warner Bros. is all set to get a similar treatment and it might not be good news to many of its fans.

Scoob! is based on the franchise Scooby-Doo which has been around for years as one of the most loved cartoon series for kids. The show aired on Cartoon Network and gained popularity over the years even in India as well.

Scoob! was planned to release on 15th May worldwide will now get digitally stream in the overseas. There’s still no clarification about India. But the studio has decided to make the best use of the lockdown and decided to make the film available on rent.

It’ll take have a benefit of the families staying together in the lockdown and Scoob! is meant to be a family entertainer. Also, the fate of reopening theatres is still not clear and the studio didn’t want to wait for more for the film to get pushed.

On Tuesday the studio officially confirmed the same that the film will be available to buy or rent for the viewers. In the US, the tariff for the same has been priced at $19.99 for renting and $24.99 for buying. Also, if you rent the film, it’ll be just available for 48 hours.

In a statement, Warner Bros’ chairman-CEO Ann Sarnoff said, “While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theatres, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content. We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”

Scoob! retains the voice of Frank Welker as Fred from the cartoon series in the film. From the other cast, we’ve Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, and Amanda Seyfried as the Scooby gang, with Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong and Tracy Morgan as other classic Hanna-Barbera animated characters.
