X-Men series’ next instalment, The New Mutants is being awaited by the fans with bated breath. The film has been delayed many times in the last two years and according to the last update, it’s scheduled for August 28 release.
Meanwhile, there’s an update to make all the X-Men fans excited. According to the synopsis updated by 20th Century Studios on their website, Illyana Rasputin aka Magik played by Anya Taylor-Joy has been confirmed as Colossus’ sister. “The younger sister of Colossus, Magik becomes encased in armor at will and wields a soulsword that amplifies her multiple superhuman and psychic abilities,” the synopsis at 20thcenturystudios.com reads.
About the film, 20th Century Studios has mentioned, “In this terrifying, action-fueled film based on the MARVEL comic series, five young people who demonstrate special powers are brought to a secret institution to undergo treatments they are told will cure them of the dangers of their powers.”

Meanwhile, The New Mutants is a part of the X-Men franchise and will have X-Men characters too, but it will be a standalone film.
The Josh Boone directed film will have Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt & Henry Zaga in lead roles.
X-Men film series kick-started in 2000 and over the years it has come with multiple instalments and spin-offs which have contributed immensely at the worldwide box office.
