Earlier this month, Jacob was asked during an interview with Variety, to talk about the sequel’s ending. To which the actor responded, “I haven’t seen it. You’ve seen more than I have. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t.”

In response to it, Joey King tweeted “Jacob watched it. He’s capping [lying]” but moments later, she deleted the tweet. This left fans wondering why she deleted the tweet and rumours began to spread that the exes started making amends now. However, Joey in an interview with Howard Stern revealed the real reason behind her deleting the tweet.

Opening up about the tweet, The Kissing Booth actress said, “I heard the term ‘capping’ on like TikTok and Twitter and Instagram and through friends, and I was like, ‘I guess this is the new thing.” Only after realising inappropriately using the word, she deleted the tweet.

“Apparently, it’s not. It’s something that I should not have used as a white person. I took it down…Two accounts on Twitter called me out for it, that’s why I deleted it. People thought it was because I was like, ‘Oh, no. I shouldn’t have said that about him,” Joey King added.

“I didn’t know,” the actress said for using the inappropriate word. “I’m not going to sit here and use a term that is not for me to use and just keep it out there, so I deleted it.”

The Act star added, “The tweet was a jovial thing. It wasn’t to be mean—it really wasn’t. I know The Kissing Booth fans they are always so curious about that tension of sorts and so I was like I’m just going to, I know they will appreciate it and that’s who it was for.”

Joey also clarified that she actually asked Elordi before tweeting so the pair are clearly not feuding in real life. She said explained, “I did get his permission to tweet it so that was fine. He had a good sense of humour about that tweet, for sure.”
