What do you think about when you think of The Avengers? Friendship, family of Superheroes, unity, and I Love You 300 are some of the first thoughts that would have crossed the minds of many of you.
That’s what Robert Downey Jr proved when our Angry Not-So-Young Man, Mark Ruffalo, wasn’t really sure of portraying the big Green guy Hulk on screen.
Rufallo entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not a smooth transition for the fact that he left the Avengers way before ‘The Avengers’, and his exit was not a very cordial one.

If you’re reading this, you all know how Edward Norton abruptly ended his relationship as Hulk with Marvel and how he missed a golden opportunity to earn millions of dollars.
So, Mark Ruffalo accepting Marvel’s offer of playing Hulk in 2012’s The Avengers meant for him to take up a job already initiated by some other actor while others had their identity as superheroes from the start.
In a conversation with super host Jimmy Fallon, Mark Ruffalo revealed why he was so scared of joining The Avengers as Hulk. He said, “I was scared. I didn’t know what I could add to what I had already thought had been done so well before me. And I had only been doing indie movies up ’til that point, so I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m the right person for this.'”
Just like Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr made sure to build the team of his superhero family filled with the best of the best ones. He, by all means, turned ‘Iron Man’ for him and said, “We Got This!”
“And then, I got a call from Downey; it must’ve made it to him that I was, you know, hemming and hawing,” He went on. “And he just simply said, ‘Ruffalo, let’s go, we got this.’ In true Iron Man fashion. And then after that, I was like, ‘I guess I have to do it,'” Mark Ruffalo further revealed.
Another reason he was so skeptical was the one that came from the ‘young actor’ in him, to fulfill a promise once he made himself. He also thought the film could be a ‘recipe for disaster’ because of Marvel’s condition of not letting the actors read the entire script due to a leak scare.
‘Hulk’ Mark Ruffalo revealed, “I made a promise when I was a young actor that I would never do another movie without reading a script beforehand because it’s a recipe for disaster. … Our only power as a young actor is our ability to say no sometimes.”
However his journey has been, we surely love Mark as The Hulk & wouldn’t ever want to get him replaced with anyone.
