
CBS All Access has revealed the release date of the much-awaited Stephen King‘s “The Stand”. It will be a new adaptation of the author’s best selling fiction novel of the same name. The story of the series is based on a group of people who survived a global outbreak of a virus called Captain Trips. The virus had apparently wiped out nearly 99 per cent of the human population on Earth.
The main protagonist of the Stephen King creation, Stu Redman, played by James Marsden, will become the leader of the survivors’ group after linking up with a very old soothsayer named Mother Abagail, played by Whoopi Goldberg. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.
While CBS has revealed that the Stephen King‘s “The Stand” will premiere on December 17, they have now unveiled a 30-second first look. The teaser trailer was released during Sunday’s 2020 MTV VMAs. Please have a look below.

The Stand is directed by Josh Boone and will contain nearly 9 episodes which will be released on a weekly basis. Showrunners for “The Stand” are Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore. Apart from James Marsden and Whoopi Goldberg, other casts of the upcoming series include, Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Greg Kinnear, Brad William Henke, Nat Wolff, Daniel Sunjata, James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Heather Graham, Marilyn Manson, Hamish Linklater and Henry Zaga.
