Spencer Grammer, who is best known for her roles as the voice of Summer Smith in Rick and Morty, recently got her arm slashed while trying to calm an agitated man outside a New York restaurant. The man also stabbed her friend in the back during the incident.
The actress and her friends were dining at an outside table at The Black Ant in Manhattan’s East Village when an intoxicated man allegedly approached the group and demanded to be served before turning violent.
Grammer told Us Weekly, “My friend and I did what anyone else would do in the same situation. She continued that they were “attempting to prevent the altercation from escalating” when they were attacked. She said, “I sustained a laceration on my arm, and my friend was stabbed in the back, but thankfully he suffered no serious internal injuries.”

Spencer Grammer said she and her friend both expect to recover quickly as neither suffered serious internal injuries. She told the portal, “We expect to recover quickly.”
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The statement read: “On Friday, July 24, 2020, at approximately 2310 hours in front of 60 2 Avenue (9 Precinct), an unknown male stuck a 36-year-old female in the right arm with an unknown object causing a laceration and swelling. A 31-year-old male was also struck in the lower back causing a laceration. The complainants were removed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The statement continued: “The suspect fled the location on foot. He is described as a male black in his 30s, approximately 5’08” and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and black sandals.” No arrests have been made.
In her statement to US Weekly, Spencer A ReGrammer also thanked the first responders and Bellevue Hospital staff that treated them.
