But did you know pop star Michael Jackson was also a fan and even possibly wanted to play Spiderman? So much so that he even planned to buy Marvel in collaboration with Stan Lee. Below is what exactly happens and you will thank us for this piece of information today.
Marvel filed for bankruptcy back in 1996 and merged with ToyBiz in 1998 which is now dysfunctional. Later, Disney came into the picture and bought the company for $4 Billion in 2009. Now if the latest reports, Michael Jackson’s nephew Taj Jackson has revealed that his late uncle wanted to buy Marvel and even wished to play Peter Parker in Spiderman.
Taj Jackson in a chat with Popcorned Planet said, “He wanted to [buy Marvel] with Stan Lee, and they had been talking and discussing that. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. They were shut down from doing that. I don’t know the reasons why, but they were adamantly in the process of doing that.”
Iconic writer Stan Lee had also revealed this in the comic con in 2009. Taj further spoke about MJ’s love for Spiderman. He said, “Besides SpiderMan, he was a huge Marvel fan. He knew all the characters. So it was not only Spider-Man [he wanted to buy]. But yeah, he probably wanted to be SpiderMan [laughs].”
