While Johnny Depp has been at the center of a burning controversy for the past couple of years for the legal battles he has been fighting, there was a time when he was an actor who was eyed for multiple roles. Loved by many, his eccentric approach to his art is something that has always made news and also churned out some of the most applauded performances. But there is someone who is really not a Depp fan and cannot even stand his acting if his several comments are to go by. It is none other than the legendary Brian Cox.

Cox, a legendary Hollywood actor, has a career spanning around five decades and is at the moment most popularly known for his brilliant work in Succession, where he played Logan Roy. If you are unversed, he was also offered to play Governor Weatherby Swann in the OG Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, Curse Of The Black Pearl. But Brian passed it because he did not want to work with Depp and was very vocal about it.

Turns out Brian Cox has yet again decided to talk about rejecting Pirates Of The Caribbean and how Johnny Depp was one of the main reasons behind it. The actor yet again took digs at the Edward Scissorhands fame and went on to call him overblown. Read on to know everything you should know about the same.

As per a Comicbook report, Brian Cox gave two reasons why he rejected the Governor’s role in Pirates Of The Caribbean. First was that the part was boring, and the other was the known fact that he did not want to work with Johnny Depp. “It [Pirates of the Caribbean] would have been a moneyspinner but, of all the parts in the film, it [Governor Swann] was the most thankless,” Cox explained.

Then Brian Cox moved on to talking about Johnny Depp, and said, “And Depp, personable though I’m sure he is, is so overblown – I mean Edward Scissorhands! Let’s face it, if you come on with hands like that and pale, scarred-face makeup, you don’t have to do anything. And he didn’t.”

The part of the Governor was later played by Jonathan Pryce. Meanwhile, the studio is now probably shaping a future for the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. There is no confirmation on anything, including whether they plan to bring back Johnny Depp, or they will move ahead without him. Stay tuned to Koimoi for more.
