English broadcaster, Piers Morgan, had a heated argument with presenter Susanna Reid. The topic in question was the impending court battle between actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
The famous couple was married for two years before going their separate ways in January 2017. Depp and Heard will soon face each other at London High Court.
Johnny Depp is accused by Heard for being a ‘wife-beater’.

Anchor Piers Morgan shared his opinion on the matter. He termed the Hollywood couple as ‘spoilt brats’ before his co-host, Susanna Reid. He also said that their case is a ‘waste of everyone’s time’ on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain.
In the words of Morgan, “I assumed this pandemic might crunch a few celebrity heads together and would make them realize that this kind of thing is pointless but no, here we go. But no, a circus will erupt. Johnny hates Amber, Amber hates Johnny. I don’t care about any of them.”
His co-host did not seem to agree with him, saying, “It’s a pretty unpleasant situation and the allegations at the heart of it are extremely serious.”
Piers Morgan intercepted, “Yeah, but honestly. It’s just a couple of celebrities.’
Susanna said, “But the issue at the heart of it has to be taken seriously, whether you’re a celebrity or not a celebrity.”
She was again interrupted by Morgan, who said, “The issue at the heart of it, which is domestic abuse, Which is hideous,” completed Susanna.
The argument did not end here. Piers also said that the 3-week trial “has been completely trivialised by this case. If you’ve read even half of the stuff that come out already, it’s quite clear that it was likely some ghastly, mutually abusive situation driven by drug abuse.”
Piers Morgan continued, “And it diminishes people that go through real abuse, in my opinion. I just think it’s absolutely unedifying and a waste of everyone’s time, but that’s where we are, isn’t it?”
Amber’s spokesperson, while talking to MailOnline, said, “Amber never asked for these proceedings to take place. Amber obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Depp back in 2016 and has tried to moved on with her life.”
He further added, “It is Johnny Depp who brought these proceedings against a British newspaper and has dragged her to the UK courts to give evidence on some of the most distressing moments of her life.”
According to Amber Heard’s allegations, Johnny choked and hit her while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Depp’s team claims that Amber is lying and is making up stories of fake assaults. On the contrary, they say that it was Amber who assaulted Johnny.
Johnny Depp had tried to stop Amber Heard from giving evidence against him and his violent actions to The Sun’s executive editor, Dan Wootton.
In 2018, the paper had referred to Depp as a ‘woman beater.’
In a recent pre-hearing on Friday, Depp’s legal team tried to block Amber from attending court. Instead, she was called as a witness by News Group Newspapers (NGN). NGN is The Sun’s publisher.
Amber would not be able to watch Depp provide evidence. Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Eleanor Laws QC, said that his client’s ex-wife’s presence would make the evidence less reliable.
Eleanor also said that Amber, not being a ‘party’ in litigation, had no reason to be in the court as a witness.
Mr. Justice Nicol let Amber attend the trial.
According to a court order from last week, the Judge said that not letting Amber Heard into the hearing ‘would inhibit the defendants in the conduct of their defence’.
He also observed that it was not Amber but rather NGN and Mr. Wootton who were defending the claim. Justice Nicol said, “They rely heavily on the information which Ms. Heard can provide. She will not be in a position to give instructions to (NGN’s lawyers), but she can provide information on which the defendants may choose to act.”
He continued, “There is a benefit to the defendants in her being able to do that near-instantaneously in the course of Depp’s cross-examination and, in my view, it would be unfair to the defendants to deprive them of that advantage.”
On the other hand, Johnny Depp is believed to have enjoyed a family weekend in Paris with former partner Vanessa Paradis. They have two kids, Lily-Rose, 21, and Jack, 18, both of whom were also with their parents in Paris.
