Over the years, Joker has become one of the most legendary characters in the world cinema. Even though described as a supervillain, the character is a grey shaded which has always found an instant connect with the audience. Till now, five actors have tried their hands on this iconic character and amongst them, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix’s version stands out the most.

Speaking of Joker character, Cesar Romero did it first in 1966. He played it in the film ‘Batman’. After him, Jack Nicholson’s played it in 1989’s Batman. Nicholson’s version is still considered best by many. In 2008, Heath Ledger changed the game with his on-screen portrayal in The Dark Knight. Jared Leto did it for 2016’s Suicide Squad. And the list is closed by none other than, Joaquin Phoenix, who added more darkness to the character with his 2019’s blockbuster.

Cesar Romero – Even though the particular amount is unknown, it is learnt that the payscale was between $200,000 to 300,000 for renowned actors during 1960s, as per Opploans.

Jack Nicholson – Jack cracked one of the lucrative deals of a lifetime. He was paid with a fee of $6 million. Also, the actor had signed a back end deal which fetched him a colossal sum of $50 million, as per Entertainment Weekly.

Heath Ledger – Heath’s portrayal remains to be the best in a lineup. For The Dark Knight, he was paid a salary of $20 million, as per Celebritynetworth.com

Jared Leto – As per Daily Mail, Leto was paid with a sum of $7 million for Suicide Squad.

Joaquin Phoenix – Surprisingly, Joaquin was paid just $4.5 million as per Cinemablend. Also, there are no details of back end deals.
