BTS Agency ‘Big Hit’ Becomes Major Shareholder Of Pledis Entertainment!

Big Hit Entertainment, the music label of South Korean boy band BTS becomes the major shareholder of Pledis Entertainment, which houses K-pop boy bands Seventeen and NU’EST. After several expansions and changes at the South Korean company, Big Hit Entertainment confirmed this news on May 25.

Pledis Entertainment was founded in 2010 by Han Sung-soo, who worked as a manager of K-pop diva BoA under SM Entertainment. SM Entertainment is the biggest K-pop music label and it has bands like NU’EST and Seventeen under it. Big Hit Entertainment said Pledis will maintain its independence even after the acquisition, but the singers will be supported by the management of Big Hit Entertainment.

The first hints about Pledis-Big Hit acquisition started back in March when Seventeen was added to BH’s proprietary app. Han had stated – “I am thrilled to be joining forces with Big Hit, a company that’s spearheading the Korean entertainment industry. This will mark an opportunity for growth for both the label’s artists and entire staff members. We will do our best to give back the ardent love fans have shown us with quality content and greater success for the artists”.

The Chairman and CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, Bang, said – “We are happy to collaborate with CEO Han Sung Soo and the creative team of PLEDIS Entertainment. Hereafter, Big Hit and Pledis will sympathize through music, and will thrive together to create great synergy with each other”.

Meanwhile, BTS’ rapper Suga is all set to drop his next music album – Agust D 2.
