On Tuesday, Britney asked a court to keep her father, Jamie Spears from reasserting the broad control over her life and career. With the #FreeBritney movement, many of her fans and followers gathered outside the courthouse yesterday including her ex-husband Jason Alexander.
Since her infamous public breakdowns more than a decade ago, the pop singer has lived under a court-approved conservatorship. For those who do not know, Britney Spears was first placed under a conservatorship in 2008. Her father served as her conservator until he stepped back from the post temporarily following health issues last fall. Since then, a licensed conservator, Jodi Montgomery has taken on the role.

Britney Spears‘ ex-husband Jason Alexander turned up to support her by attending the rally in Los Angeles. While there he spoke about how he feels about it.

In a video published online, he said Britney deserves to be given more freedom. He said: “She does get to do things, and maybe go on a vacation for a week, but it’s all supervised and it’s not like she can just go do what she wants.”
He added, “She’s ready man, for this to be over with, it’s holding her back. It’s really sad and probably affects her relationship with her kids and people like me and the fans who she’d like to hang out with.”

When asked about her dad Jamie Spears, who has acted as her conservator for 12 years, Jason added: “He’s a big part of the problem, but it’s bigger than that.” He added “You know he’s just kind of playing his role. That’s why I said today should be about ending the conservatorship not changing the conservator.”
Jason Alexander and Britney Spears are childhood friends. They tied the knot in a ceremony in Sin City in 2004. Their marriage was annulled 55 hours later, with court documents stating the singer ‘lacked understanding of her actions.’
In recent developments, Britney Spears’ legal bid is believed to have hit a roadblock. In a closed hearing, it was decided that the current arrangements until extent to February 2021. Britney will have to wait until next year to once again request her father’s permanent removal from the conservatorship.
