For the past few years, Marvel Studios is trying to be diverse in terms of their cast, representation and stories. But Avengers: Endgame actor Anthony Mackie has slammed them for lack of diversity. He even called them out for racism. The actor plays the role of Sam Wilson aka Falcon in the MCU.

Since the killing of George Floyd last month, the topic of racism has been discussed a lot. Thousands of people are protesting against racism in the US and world and lent their voice to the Black Lives Matter movement. A lot of Hollywood celebs also joined the protests. As Marvel is a very big franchise and has a fan following all over the world, Avengers: Endgame’s Anthony has called them out for having an all-white crew.

On Variety’s Actors on Actors interview, the Captain America: Civil War actor talked about it with Snowpiercer star Daveed Diggs. Anthony Mackie said, “When ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ comes out, I’m the lead. When ‘Snowpiercer’ comes out, you’re the lead. We have the power and the ability to ask those questions. It really bothered me that I’ve done seven Marvel movies where every producer, every director, every stunt person, every costume designer, every PA, every single person has been white.” Anthony also talked about racism when it came to the Black Panther movie.

About Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther movie, the Avengers: Endgame actor said, “But then when you do ‘Black Panther,’ you have a Black director, Black producer, you have a Black costume designer, you have a Black stunt choreographer. And I’m like, that’s more racist than anything else. Because if you only can hire the Black people for the Black movie, are you saying they’re not good enough when you have a mostly white cast?”

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier actor concluded with a logical suggest to Marvel. Mackie said, “Hire the best person for the job. Even if it means we’re going to get the best two women, we’re going to get the best two men.”
