Twitter, on late Friday, lit up with a bit of news few were expecting. Not a rare occurrence these days, given that there were no reports about a Covid-19 vaccine trial. It was something else. The streaming service Hulu cancelled Zoe Kravitz starrer High Fidelity after season one.
The streaming service Hulu launched High Fidelity on February 14. After the lockdown hit in early March, the series became something of a lifeline. The show is the adaptation of Nick Hornby’s book and the John Cusack movie of the same name. It’s about a bunch of Brooklyn music nerds who spent a lot of time hanging out. Kravitz plays the role of Rob who is a pop culture-obsessed owner of a record store.
During the lockdown, the series seemed to be from an alternate timeline where impromptu meetups at dive bars were still happening. However, the cancellation of High Fidelity wasn’t big news, it stung hard and harder for Kravitz, who took to Instagram to take a jibe at the streaming service Hulu. She expressed her anguish saying that the streaming service lacks having much diversity in its programming slate.

The ‘Batman’ star slammed the streaming service after actress Tessa Thompson commented on the photo “I will miss you alllllllllllll so much.” To which Kravitz, who was also an executive producer on the series, replied “it’s cool. at least Hulu has a ton of other shows starring women of color we can watch. oh wait.”
Earlier, after the cancellation news, the 31-year-old star has shared a picture of the entire cast of the show on Instagram. The post gave a “shoutout” to the team.
“I wanna give a shout out to my #highfidelity family. Thank you for all the love and heart you put into this show. I’m in awe of all of you. And thank you to everyone who watched, loved and supported us. #breakupssuck,” she wrote.
Hulu’s High Fidelity is a recreation of 2000 film of the same name. The film starred Zoe’s mother, Lisa Bonet and John Cusack as Rob Gordon.
