After almost a decade, Twilight book series having ended, the author and creator Stephenie Meyer has now released a new book Midnight Sun. The new book retells the story from the point of view of Edward Cullen, the vampire. The author, in an interview, has shared the experience of writing it and declared the one change she wishes she could make to her widely popular vampire story.

Now that Meyer has finally completed the project, she said she wishes she could retroactively change one thing about the original novel. In an interview with Bustle, the author said that Edward, the vampire, should have told his beau Bella that he loved her much sooner. Meyer claims that Edward would have said those three magical words earlier in the story instead of waiting until much later as he does in Twilight.
According to the author, Edward should have said, “I love you” to Bella after saving her in Port Angeles. In Midnight Sun, the author showed Edward internally considers saying this at the time. She also told The New York Times that writing about the character made her feel anxious as Edward is an anxious character.
