Tom Cruise’s upcoming action film to be shot in space has been making news even before its announcement. The film for which Tom Cruise collaborated with NASA and Elon Musk of SpaceX is being looked forward by the fans even though it’s scripting is yet to begin.
And now we hear that Tom Cruise along with director Doug Limon, Christopher McQuarrie and PJ van Sandwijk have managed to take a commitment of $200 million from Universal Pictures for the making of the film. It has been learnt that Tom convinced Universal just with a Zoom call purely on the basis of its premise.
According to a Deadline report, the $200 million budget is just an estimate because the film is yet to be scripted and will have unprecedented logistics. It also says the budget according to the cost of space films looks pretty reasonable. The entertainment portal has also reported sources as saying, that the Mission: Impossible films’ writer, McQuarrie will have a ground control role as story advisor and producer alongside Cruise, Liman and van Sandwijk.

Earlier confirming the project, NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote on Twitter, “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.”

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise is also working on upcoming films like Top Gun: Maverick & Mission: Impossible 7.
