Ewan McGregor Starrer ‘Star Wars: Kenobi’ Series To Reportedly Begin Production In September?

Last August, it was announced that Ewan McGregor will be returning to the ‘Star Wars’ universe with a spin-off series. The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series is being developed for Disney+. Ever since the announcement, the Obi-Wan’s solo series has experienced ups and downs.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the filming for the Disney+ ‘Star Wars: Kenobi’ was stalled. Earlier this month, a few reports suggested the Star Wars series would begin production in early 2021. But here’s some good news for all you Star Wars fans. According to a report, the production has been preponed and will happen from September onwards.

The reports state that production will begin with filming the exterior shots somewhere in Southern California. According to Making Star Wars tabloid, their Hollywood sources have informed them that Disney+’s Star Wars: Kenobi is filming at the ‘train yard’ location next month. The location in question is the same place where The Mandalorian filmed it’s first two season’s exterior shots.

With the location being used to film the exterior shots of Star Wars: Kenobi, it can be assumed that the interiors would shot at the Manhattan stage or Pinewood Studios. The tabloid further assumed that the location, which was used for Tatooine in The Mandalorian, will double for the desert planet.

The report also suggests the series will film in England as said earlier. The exterior shots will be completed first in California before primary production moves to the United Kingdom. When will production begin in UK will depend on how the travel industry is impacted by COVID-19. At this time, international travel is still difficult to do given all the restrictions in place.
