Ed Sheeran is the most sought-after celebrity in Hollywood. The actor-singer time and again comes with a soothing track, and creates a storm within fans. But do you know about the time when a storm was caused in his life? There was a cold war with One direction fame Niall Horan. Fun fact: a crooning beauty was the reason behind it all!
It was all back in 2013. Ed Sheeran accused one of his former girlfriends with cheating allegations. The singer in question has crooned a song for Dakota Johnson’s Fifty Shades Of Grey (Ring any bells?) The Shape Of You singer was even spotted at the VMA Awards with his ladylove. They were holding hands and created a lot of noise over their romance rumours. However, twist in the turn came when she was spotted kissing Niall Horan weeks after.

We’re talking about Ellie Goulding here. Yes, now it all makes sense. Doesn’t it? Ed Sheeran even took a dig at her in his famous song ‘Don’t.’ While neither the Thinking Out Loud singer nor Elle confirmed their relation, fans were quick to point out that the lyrics of Don’t were directed towards the latter.
In fact, later in an interview with Billboard, Sheeran went onto confess that the song was indeed a reference to his real-life incidents. “The story in Don’t is 100 percent true. I could have gotten nastier — there was more s*** that I didn’t put in,” he shared.
However, in contrary, Love Me Like You Do singer (yea, the Fifty Shades song) Elle Goulding refuted these claims. She confessed to dating Niall Horan but said there was nothing with Ed Sheeran.
“I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed. I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing,” said Ellie in a conversation with Elle magazine.
But did the rivalry or feud between the One Direction singer and Ed Sheeran end? Yes, we guess. They were both witnessed partying together in 2015 – the one hosted by Taylor Swift!
