Sure, Aamir Khan did a lot for his dark and brooding look in Dhobi Ghat, and director-wife Kiran Rao would also agree. The actor lived in his character, Arun’s, house for 3-4 days during the filming. And that’s just miniscule compared to the effort for his six-pack, veined arms and his haircut in Ghajini.
Well, but Aamir Khan wasn’t always the “Perfectionist” star. Check out some of the actor’s pics from the yesteryears:
Aamir became the nation’s sweetheart with his college-boy looks and the cute song Papa Kehte Hain from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). While the whole jacket-meets-glares look may have been quite a rage then, we can’t help but snigger at it now.
In Afsana Pyar Ka (1991), Aamir Khan played the young and romantic Raj opposite Neelam in a film about love between two warring families. And by the looks of Aamir’s bow-tie suit, we think there might have been a Raj Kapoor inspiration behind that umbrella. (Is it us, or does AK have a penchant for kissing his co-stars on the poster. Pity he didn’t do that in Andaz Apna Apna.)
Shiny jacket and shiny tie topped with a French hat beret, looks like Aamir Khan took the whole Time Machine (1992) look seriously. If only the movie wasn’t shelved…
Aamir Khan played Chotu in Isi Ka Naam Zindagi (1992). And we weren’t kidding about the kissing thing…
