1) Minions
The spin-off prequel of Despicable Me series proved to be a huge hit at the worldwide box office. Directed by Pierre Coffin & Kyle Balda, the animated comedy film starred Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan & Jennifer Saunders. Minions was heavily liked by the audience especially kids and did a worldwide business of $1,159 million. Released in 2015, Minions was first comedy film to cross 1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
2) Despicable Me 3
Following Minions is none other than the 3rd instalment of Despicable Me series. Despicable Me 3 released in 2017 and was directed by Pierre Coffin & Kyle Balda. The animated comedy film did a business of $1,035 million according to Box Office Mojo.
3) Despicable Me 2
The 2nd part of Despicable Me couldn’t touch $1 billion mark as it released in 2013 but it reached very close. Directed by Chris Renaud & Pierre Coffin, the film did a global business of $971 million.
4) Shrek 2
Before Minions came into life with Despicable Me, it was Shrek which ruled the comedy genre. The 2004 animated comedy film entertained the kids too much. Directed by Andrew Adamson, Kelly Asbury and Conrad Vernon, Shrek 2 did a worldwide business of $929 million.
5) The Secret Life of Pets
As comedy got fused with animation for big-screen entertainment, the audience really lapped it up. The Secret Life Of Pets which released in 2016 is yet another example. Directed by Chris Renaud and co-directed by Yarrow Cheney, the film did a business of $875 million all over the world.
6) Shrek The Third
