With Race 3 Will Blockbuster Machine, Salman Khan Continue His Invincible Track Record On Eid?

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Salman Khan made the period of Eid lucrative for Bollywood films by releasing his films one after another. Before the release of his 2009 Hit film, Wanted, Eid was never known to be as favourable a release window as Diwali and Christmas. Realistically, Eid on the face of it isn’t even the biggest festival of the year as a lot of corporate offices in the metros are functioning on the Eid day. However, Khan kept on releasing his films one after another around Eid, thereby making it one of the most sought-after release dates of the year.

In last 9 years, Salman Khan had 8 Eid releases in the form of Wanted, Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan, and Tubelight out of which, 7 proved to be humongous blockbusters. In fact, Khan kept on raising the bar at the Box-Office with every passing release on the Eid and he became synonymous with the release slot. Such has been Salman’s command over the release date that in the last 8 years, no one has dared to clash with the superstar at the Box-Office.

Films like Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan became the second highest grossing Hindi films of all time upon their release, which is a commendable feat. The exhibitors have been heard saying that “The Eid Slot Makes No Sense Without A Salman Khan Film” which holds true because Khan is the whole and sole reason to get an audience from all strata into the cinema hall during the holy festival of Eid. Although last year there was a minor hiccup in the form of Tubelight, which failed to work at the Box-Office, this year marks the return of Salman Khan to the coveted festive slot with an action entertainer in the form of Race 3. The theatrical trailer has worked for the masses, who are expected to flock into the cinema hall in huge numbers over the weekend. The trade is predicting the film to take the biggest opening of the year by surpassing the current record holder, Avengers: Infinity War.

While the opening day and weekend of the film is expected to be top notch, the content will decide the fate of Race 3 in the long run. The Remo D’Souza directorial was recently cleared by the censor board with a U/A Certificate and the film run-time is approximately 2 Hour and 40 Minutes.
